This week, we welcomed our Reception children to a very special transition morning as they prepare to take their exciting next step into Year 1.
To celebrate this important moment, the children took part in a creative activity that was as meaningful as it was colourful. Each child decorated a cardboard handprint, using paint, felt tips, sequins, and plenty of imagination. These hands represent the individuality, creativity, and personality that each child will bring with them as they move forward.
Alongside their hands, the children created beautiful wishing stars. On each star, they wrote their personal wish for Year 1 – from learning new things and making new friends, to becoming even better readers or trying something brave. Their hopes were thoughtful, heartwarming, and full of promise.
All of this wonderful work has been turned into a stunning corridor display, proudly placed just outside the Year 1 classrooms. It is a bright and joyful celebration of the children’s talents, dreams, and readiness for their new adventure. It is also a lovely way for them to begin feeling at home in their new environment.
We are so proud of how confidently and creatively the children approached the transition morning. Their enthusiasm is a reminder of how much they have grown and how ready they are for the next chapter.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead in Year 1!
