The blue team came up against some good opposition playing host to Witham Hall on Thursday 8th May. Witham batted first and scored a tremendous 37 off the last pair to give them a total of 98! Copthill then came in to bat and whilst scoring 29 off the last pair, they struggled to score in the middle order and reach Witham’s total. The final score was 57-98 in favour of Witham Hall.
The Copthill Black team participated with enthusiasm in their first cricket fixture with some brilliant batting and bowling at times, making it a tricky test for Witham. Unfortunately a win for Copthill wasn’t to be had, but the progress from the first over was wonderful to see. Lots to work on in lessons but a really positive and enjoyable afternoon.
The Copthill Green team played well together. There was some very good fielding and bowling, with Ruben chosen by the opposition as our best player. Unfortunately, when batting, we just couldn’t score enough runs. Copthill 51, Witham 70.
