An impressive performance by the Copthill ‘A’ squad on their first run out of the season. Keen to show their improving stick skills, instruction was given to concentrate on developing their positional play and teamwork, and the boys did exactly that, using individual skills and game intelligence to good effect as quick inter-passing lead to an early goal, after which they never looked back.
Playing with a high press ensured more powerful goals followed for Copthill, but in the second half our defence were increasingly tested. Despite the numerous substitutions and positional changes the boys adapted well and played some excellent hockey in all areas of the pitch. At this early stage of the season there is still much to be improved, but as a work in progress this squad showed it has the great potential. Congratulations to all the boys on a successful afternoon!
The Copthill ‘B’ squad played extremely well in their match against SJS this week. Positional play and passing were excellent, as was defensive marking. Copthill won all four quarters and dominated all areas of play. Team spirit was excellent, and the boys are really looking forward to their next game.
The Copthill Development squad travelled to Stamford this week and played a brilliant and closely matched game. Competitive and energetic throughout, the passing and positional play was fantastic, as the boys completed a wonderful display of sporting action from Copthill.
