This week in Year 1, we have been learning all about light and shadows. To help us understand how shadows work, we waited for the sunniest day and went outside to do some shadow tracking! We drew around our shadows with chalk at different times throughout the day, including the morning, at lunchtime, and in the afternoon. It was so exciting to see how our shadows changed size and direction throughout the day! We learnt that light travels in a straight line, shadows are made when something blocks the light and that our shadows are longer in the morning and afternoon, and shorter at lunchtime when the sun is high in the sky.
