With the majority of mainstream school sports completed for another year, Y5 and Y6 are enjoying a choice of sporting activities in some of their after school clubs during the second half of term.
A few weeks of highly competitive Rounders games have now given way to Siege; Copthill’s unique game of skill, strategy and teamwork, where two tribes take turns to attack or defend The Fort, using our not-quite-round orange siege balls! The rules of combat are far too complex to explain here, but suffice to say the games are often very close, The Fort being held by a well organised defence on many occasions. However, if the attackers get their plans right, and can work as a team to co-ordinate their attack, The Fort can fall within minutes!
Whilst Year 5 develop their tactics, this maybe the last opportunity Year 6 will have to demonstrate their leadership qualities in a game of Copthill Siege. However, we know that below the seeming “chaos of battle” there are many strategies and personal skills being honed which will be applied in the years to come. We hope there will also be plenty of memories of the great fun we all had!
