Reception Blog: Happy to Be Me!

We are having a wonderful time exploring our topic, “Happy to Be Me!” This week, we have been celebrating how each of us is special and unique, sharing heartwarming family stories along the way.

Our discussions have focused on different emotions—times when we feel happy, excited, nervous, or unsure—and how we can manage these feelings. The children especially enjoyed using natural materials to create expressive faces, helping them explore emotions in a fun and creative way. We’ve also been thinking about the special people in our families and how they support us. With Mother’s Day approaching, we are already coming up with thoughtful ways to surprise our mums!

In maths, we have been building our number skills by composing numbers and discovering different ways to represent them. The children have enjoyed using hands-on activities to deepen their understanding.

One of the highlights of the week was diving into the story of “The Gingerbread Man.” We had so much fun baking and decorating our own gingerbread biscuits before enjoying them as a tasty snack! We also reenacted the story and had some fascinating discussions, questioning whether it was right for the gingerbread man to run away and if he got what he deserved in the end.

It has been a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and thoughtful conversations. We can’t wait to see where our next adventures take us!
