Goodness gracious! What a welcome back! Hailstones, rain, glorious sunshine and wind. As the children entered the school wearing their summer uniform for the first day of the summer term we had it all!
In art this week we decided it was time for a fresh display in the Year 2 corridor and boy did we do just that with our fabulous Picasso collages. We copied Picasso’s designs when we drew the facial features and then added a number of different accessories whilst learning how to curl and crimp paper. We were very pleased with our efforts!
In English this week, we have been looking at fantasy stories and thinking about the settings and characters. We shared some fantasy books and identified the characters and setting by reading the blurb on the back of the book. We then created our very own imaginary characters.
We started the week doing some addition and subtraction tangrams. These were fun, but rather challenging to put together! Some great team work was observed.
Here we are making shadow monsters only there was no sign on the sunshine to get the shots! However we have all the resources ready for when the sun decides to appear!
In Forest School this week we paid a visit to our tortoises and goats. We then started preparing our entry for the Uffington’s Scarecrow Festival next month. Using our own alpacas’ and sheep’s wool we made two sheep. There was a lot of careful tucking within the chicken wire to ensure it stayed very secure! We then had a lot of fun using the wheelbarrow which was laden with all our tools and precious sheep!
