A wonderful session in the woods today. The children have been excited to make flatbread on the fire. We chatted about what a fire could be used for, and the children were amazing at recalling our fire safety rules, demonstrating stepping out of the fire square beautifully. The children helped to mix, prepare and knead the dough for our flatbreads, showing some lovely turn taking. The joined in counting how many balls of dough we needed and helped to squish the dough flat. They then watched them cooking on the fire, listening to sound of the fire and closely observing the colours they could see. We practised our Autumn harvest songs whilst the bread was cooking and then before we knew it they were ready. We added a little bit of golden syrup and most of us decided they were delicious!
