Year 1 were given the task of designing their windmill to appeal to a mouse from the song “a mouse lived in a windmill”. The windmill needed to blow in the wind and had to be made of different parts including sails, a structure to hold the sails and an axle. We linked our design engineering learning with the 3D shapes that we have been learning about in maths. Everyone persevered to overcome any design problems and the windmills all successfully turned in the wind. Great engineering work year 1.
