This week in Nursery and Pre School the children have been learning all about the festival of Chinese New Year. They were fascinated by the story of The Great Race and were particularly excited to learn that this year is the year of the dragon. Amongst sensory tuff trays and small world activities, the children have been learning all about how Chinese New Year is celebrated. We were very interested to learn how houses are cleaned to sweep away any bad luck and how red lanterns are displayed as red is thought to be a lucky colour. In Pre School some of the children continued the Chinese New Year topic when Mrs Sullivan came to teach us a Spanish session. We really enjoyed counting the animals and learning their names in Spanish.
