What an unforgettable day we’ve had in Reception! Today, we were thrilled to welcome Ben from Spirit of the Wild, who brought along some truly amazing animals for us to meet.
From the moment the animals arrived, the children were buzzing with excitement. We got up close to a Brazilian spider, giggled at the playful meerkats, and even had a sniff (from a safe distance!) of a real pet skunk. Ice the husky quickly became a class favourite – so gentle and calm, he was a joy to stroke.
The fruit bat had everyone giggling as it munched on satsumas and cheekily spat out the pips! But it was the magnificent golden eagle that stole the show. With its giant wings and proud stance, it was a truly breathtaking sight. Some brave teachers even had a turn holding it!
This hands-on animal encounter sparked so many questions and conversations. We’re so grateful to Ben and the team at Spirit of the Wild for bringing such wonder into our classroom. What a wild adventure!
