A Riverbank Adventure!

What an exciting day we had in Year 1!

After hearing whispers about some strange and mysterious objects being washed up along the riverbank, we couldn’t wait to investigate. So, we pulled on our sunhats, lined up nicely, and trundled down to the river for a real-life adventure!

As we explored, we discovered all sorts of interesting treasures. We found a soft feather, a broken old compass, a sad-looking starfish, and even a pencil all tangled up in green, slimy seaweed! There was also a shiny gold coin, a splintered piece of a lifeboat, and a soggy book called Swimming is Easy.

But that wasn’t all…

We were amazed to find a clear container filled with river water, a crinkled chart showing dangerous rocks, and most exciting of all — a letter from a mermaid! The mermaid gave us a magical task: to imagine we had found ten things inside a shipwrecked sailor’s pocket, and to write a poem using descriptive language and adjectives.

Back in the classroom, our imaginations took off! We used powerful words to describe our discoveries and had so much fun creating poems full of mystery and wonder. Who knew a sailor could carry so many strange things in his pockets?
