This week, Pre-School turned into a team of Very Serious Water Scientists as we splish, splash, sploshed into the wonderful world of sinking and floating—woodland style!
Armed with a water tray and a collection of forest treasures—sticks, stones, pinecones, and crinkly leaves—the children set out to solve life’s big questions: Do pinecones swim? Can a leaf do a belly flop? Will that GIANT stone sink faster than a snack at break time? (Spoiler: It did.)
There were gasps, giggles, and dramatic “SPLASH!” sound effects as each item was carefully plopped into the water. Some bobbed like sleepy ducks, while others plunged to the bottom with the grace of a potato.
As they investigated, the children made clever predictions, tested their theories, and chattered away using big words like “floaty,” “heavy-ish,” and “WHOA!”—all while developing curious minds and mighty vocabularies.
So next time you’re near a puddle or a pond, just ask your local water scientist: float or sink? They’re the experts now.
