Over the last two EEL sessions, Year 4 have been busy making their own walking staffs to use on our long walk from Burghley to Copthill at the camp over. They began by choosing a stick that felt comfortable for them to use and was the ‘right fit’ – Mr Campbell likened this to Harry choosing his very own wand at Ollivander’s Wand Shop in Diagon Alley!
Once they had chosen their stick, they began the difficult task of whittling it using a knife to remove the bark and shape it. This took quite some time but everyone managed to complete the task!
After half term, the children will personalise their staffs with a positive quote and some beading and they will be safely stored away until we meet at Burghley for our walk.
