Exploring the traditional culture of Native Americans

As part of their ‘Come fly with me America’ topic, Y6 have been learning about the traditional daily life of Native Americans including their homes, clothing and food. Today, Y6 were split into different tribes. They had to nominate a chief and use paint to show traditional tribal face-markings before creating their own traditional dance, including writing their own rhythms. In preparation for hunting, they honed their archery skills. They also cooked succotash over the fire, which they enjoyed around Copthill’s newest tipi as they watched each other’s dances.
