On Thursday 30th January some of the boys from year 5&6 were selected to represent Copthill at the National ISA hockey tournament which was held at Lee Valley in London.
They played some outstanding hockey in the group stage during the morning, winning all 4 of their matches. They scored 10 goals in total and did not concede any.
Having won the group, they then progressed to the main cup competition and faced the winners of another group, so we knew the competition was going to get tougher! The semi final ended in a goalless draw which meant it went to the dreaded penalty shuffles! Ayush saved both penalty shuffles he faced and Copthill scored both, which meant they had reached the final!
They faced Ipswich in the final and played some excellent hockey, dominating the game and winning comfortably 2-0.
The whole squad of 10 boys can be extremely proud of their achievements and success! This is only the second time a boys team from Copthill have won the cup competition at a hockey ISA tournament.
