Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year Everyone!
Pre-School has been busy celebrating the Chinese/Lunar New Year and the year of the snake this week. Our classroom has been adorned with lanterns, Chinese utensils, silk robes and dragons as the children have been discovering how the Chinese/Lunar New Year is celebrated and why the years came to be named after different animals. (Harmless) snakes in all shapes and colours have been slithering around the place as the children decorated special red envelopes with Chinese writing before popping a shiny (and tasty!) gold coin into them for good luck! We are all feeling very lucky indeed…best buy that lottery ticket this weekend folks!
Outside, our spaces came alive with a sea of multi-coloured ribbons as the children mastered their Chinese dragon dancing skills as they busted some serious moves!
To top it all off in Chinese style, we were spoiled with a very special Chinese lunch courtesy of the super creative Catering Team. The children even savoured Chinese fortune cookies (but thankfully not the fortune messages) for a snack in the teepee after our delightful afternoon bimble in the winter sunshine. It’s a big thumbs up from Pre-School, 好吃 “hǎo chī” delicious!
