Native American Tipi building…

Year 1 have been learning all about Native American tipi’s. They can tell you which way the door faces, how many straight poles are used, what the tipi is made out of, why they are so light, what is in the middle of the tipi, how they are decorated, who is responsible in the tribe for putting the tipi up and taking it down as well as lots of other really interesting facts.

We went outside to learn all about the size of a Native American tipi. We measured the diameter of a tipi and used chalk to mark out the size on the playground. We all thought it was very small compared to our homes today. We also collected a great array of straight poles to make our model tipi more authentic. Well done year 1.
