As part of their geography skills, Y5 investigated OS and old maps of the Stamford canal (the first ever canal built in Britain in the 1600s!). We then walked alongside the canal, tracking it against the river and recognising the dips that showed where it used to be. We even managed to walk in some of the empty canal and see parts of the old wall. On the way, we looked out for Autumnal treasures including sloe berries, rosehips and of course, blackberries to eat!
