This year, a group of enthusiastic children from Year 5 and Year 6 had the exciting opportunity to participate in the annual Barnack Run, a 2.5k course that takes place in the picturesque village of Barnack.
The route primarily consists of road running, offering a unique chance for the young athletes to explore their local surroundings while engaging in a healthy and spirited competition.
The atmosphere was electric, with students from various local schools coming together.
The weather could not have been more ideal, as the sun shone brightly throughout the morning, creating perfect conditions for the runners.
This year’s event saw incredible performances from all participants, each striving for personal bests and demonstrating their determination. Notably, every child who took part from Copthill secured a position within the top 20, a phenomenal achievement that speaks to their hard work and dedication.
Monty lead the way for the Year 6 boys, clinching an impressive 3rd place, while Thomas made waves for the Year 5 boys, proudly finishing in 8th. The girls also shone brightly, with Dolly securing 8th place for the girls, further adding to the event’s success.
What truly stood out during the Barnack Run was the palpable sense of Copthill camaraderie among the children. As they rallied together as a team, the children not only cheered each other on but also took the initiative to organise their own warm-up routines before the race. This display of teamwork, support, and collective spirit made the day even more memorable.
Congratulations to all the young runners on their fantastic achievements, and thank you to the parents who helped the event run smoothly and cheered the children on their way.
