To conclude their ‘wars of the world’ topic, year 6 had an immersive dusk experience in our very own WW1 trenches. They took on the role of medics in our field hospital, rescuing casualties from no-man’s land and treating their injuries with the latest medical advancements of the time; cooked trench stew in our trench kitchen and dug some more lines of trenches under enemy fire and the treat of gas and shell attacks. Finally, we experienced ‘going over the top’ re-enacting the preparation before these orders, and sadly, the devastating loss of multiple soldiers as they exited the trench. What an incredible ‘Copthillian’ experience!
