At the start of the week, Year 4 performed on the strings for the school in our weekly signing assembly. It sounded fantastic, and we couldn’t believe they’ve only been learning the string instruments for just nine weeks!!
Maths saw the start of our ‘Area’ topic, and the children have enjoyed learning about different shapes’ areas, and how they can fit together to create a larger area. In English, we have been continuing with our creating writing and use of speech, studying ‘Journey by Aaron Becker’, whilst touching on the sequels ‘Quest’ and ‘Return’ (the trilogy would make a fantastic Christmas present, FYI!). Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed using their vivid imaginations to answer the question “What happens next?”, and continuing on with the story as they envision it.
As December begins and the buildup to Christmas is among us, Year 4 have been getting in the spirit! Classroom decorations have started being put together, and as Advent started today, and the children are extremely excited to find out each morning who will be the lucky chocolate receiver!
After the disappointing news of the fixtures being cancelled this week due to the weather, Year 4 are in high spirits in anticipation of the House Matches next week. We hope to see you all there, wrapped up warm!
