This week has seen Year 2 drawing, sorting, naming and describing many 2D shapes. Guess the shape was a great game where children had to describe the shape to a partner whilst the other tried to guess it. Key vocabulary like : parallel lines, lines of symmetry, number of straight/curved sides, regular and irregular could be heard. Superb!
We have been looking at the first of our famous people this week as our new topic ‘Zero to Hero’ begins. Note to parents: Please would you help your child to choose their favourite famous person to research for their Independent Explorer task. Could a presentation then be made to share in class. It can be an IT presentation or paper format as a poster or factfile. To be completed by our return to school on 8th January.
Thomas Edison’s amazing inventions were revealed which led us on to looking at how shadows are formed. We made some incredible shadow puppets ready for a little show! There were some very intricate cutting skills happening!
One of our pupils is learning to speak Hungarian and was very keen to share with us the alphabet. The children were amazed at how many letters there were and how they were pronounced. We then decided to do our registration speaking new Hungarian words – asking how each of us were feeling.
2G made some wonderful clay dinosaurs and built great swampy habitats for their model dinosaurs to reside in within our woods.
Year 2 enjoyed tackling a phonics mystery – you can see the concentration on their faces trying to solve it with their friends.
Autumnal fun – these photos say it all!
