In Nursery and Pre School this week, we have been using small world play and exploring stories such as ‘Real Superheroes’ and ‘A Superhero Like You’, to teach the children all about people who help us. These books describe to children the important role that members of the community play in helping us. We have been learning about the vital roles of the emergency services, such as: firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses and police officers. We were even treated to a visit from Miss Hanham’s dad, PC Hanham, who came in to speak to the children about the role of police officers and how they can help. We have also been thinking about other services provided by people in the community around us such as: teachers, vets, dentists and postal workers.
