You might have guessed by the title what our new topic is connected with… Jurassic Hunters! We are thinking about the past and looking at the evidence that has led us to understand about the incredible creatures that were alive during the Mesozoic Era millions of years ago.
During Forest School this week, we took advantage of the seasonal changes and enjoyed looking at the beautiful colourful carpet of leaves within the woods and noticed all the leaves that are still yet to fall. We made fabulous leaf folk inspired by the book ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert. It was a wonderful experience to just take a moment to lie on the ground whilst looking up through the trees and into the sky. We could hear the wind and watched the leaves flutter to the ground.
In DT we designed and created our very own healthy Halloween treats! We used knives to cut our fruit and vegetables into spooky delights. As you can see we really enjoyed both eating and making them! We are unsure however just what our resident Bonny the Witch thought of them…
We have been busy looking at features of non fiction texts. We have been searching through the books to identify them and have enjoyed doing a spot of guided reading too this week. The children worked in a small group reading, discussing and understanding texts. As our topic makes us think about the past, we have also been working out how to change regular verbs into the past tense.
This week, we were lucky enough to have a PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) Emotions workshop. The children were able to explore differing emotions that they might recognise and find differing options of how best to deal with them.
